Helicopter Pilot

SWORN POLICE OFFICER

Helicopters provide a clear advantage to law enforcement. They offer speed, a bird’s eye perspective, and the use of specialized sensors such as infrared that enable them to “see” in the dark. A career flying law enforcement helicopters is definitely within your reach and can offer excitement as well as financial rewards and job security.

As you might expect, the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department’s Aviation Unit is a specialist department within the force, so years of training and experience will be required to gain the qualifications needed to become a police helicopter pilot. This can be one of the most rewarding jobs within the police force – provided you have the patience and persistence to work towards the role.

As a regional asset in the Bay area, you will find being a pilot with EBRPD to be extremely rewarding!

Communications Dispatcher

2 positions: Lateral and Per Diem

Our Public Safety Telecommunicators are the lifeline when someone in the East Bay Regional Park District needs assistance and/or immediate attention.

Our dispatchers help save lives. They assist us in catching criminals. They guide callers into actions that will keep them safe until help arrives or even save lives by walking them through administering CPR in an emergent situation. They are the first responders’ best ally and a victim’s best friend. They are the calm voice amid the crisis and chaos. They are the behind-the-scenes heroes who use technology and teamwork to keep us safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Professional Positions

Professional Openings and Student Aide Positions

Civilians fill a number of varied nonsworn positions at East Bay Regional Park District Police Department. Being a member of our professional staff offers a great opportunity to give back to the community while working in the rewarding field of law enforcement.

Civilian positions provide a supportive role to sworn personnel. Positions include: records personnel who work in the Records Division; administrative staff who work in precincts or our specialty units; specific roles in our Property Evidence Division; and positions that provide specialized services, such as fiscal/accounting, communications/dispatch or crime analysis.

Civilian positions offer competitive pay, benefits and retirement. Some positions may require varied shifts, including nights and weekends.

Volunteer Trail Safety Patrol

The Volunteer Trail Safety Patrol comprises five patrol groups: the Volunteer Mounted Patrol, the Volunteer Bicycle Patrol, the Volunteer Hiking Patrol, the Companion Dog Patrol, and the Volunteer Marine Safety Unit. We are always accepting applications to join this vital group of individuals.

The purpose of the Volunteer Trail Safety Patrol is to assist the East Bay Regional Park District and its Public Safety Department in the safe, effective management of parklands. Members receive training in all facets of park user safety and are charged with a duty to Observe, Educate, Report…and Enjoy. 

The Volunteer Trail Safety Patrol promotes safe and courteous park and trail use by District visitors. Patrol members provide visitors with educational information, and they forward to park and public safety personnel their observations of facility safety or law enforcement issues. Many patrol members are equipped with District two-way radios or personal cellular phones. Patrol members seek to maintain positive relationships among trail user groups and to project a professional image of the District.
